Frequently Asked Questions
What to expect at your consultation.
You will be greeted by the therapist and asked to fill in a simple form (unless you have brought this form with you already completed)
The therapist will take a full and thorough history including any relevant medical history. We will ask lots of questions about the problem including how it started, how your condition progressed, where you feel your pain/symptoms along with what aggravates and eases them.
We will then fully examine the area which for neck or shoulder problems will require you to undress to your waist and for hip or back problems will require you to undress to your underwear. This allows us to take a close look at the area involved and we will of course do our best to maintain your modesty at all times. We will then perform a series of movements and tests followed by the therapist using their hands to feel for any tenderness or abnormalities of the area.
We will always endeavour to give you a clear diagnosis and explain this in a way that is easily understood also explaining why we think you are getting the problem. We would encourage you at this time to ask as many questions as you like to fully understand your condition. For most conditions you will receive a printed leaflet of this including the treatment techniques involved and a specific exercise programme .
We will then explain our suggested treatment plan including what techniques we will use and what you can do yourself to help your condition. The first session will usually involve treatment.
What should I wear?
If it is your neck, shoulder or upper back we require you to undress to the waist.
If it is your lower back or hip we require you to undress to underwear/shorts.
We therefore advise that you ensure you wear clothing that you feel comfortable in but that allow us to fully view and assess the injured areas.

What are your Privacy Policies?
I only hold data that enables me to make contact with my patients (such as email addressess and telephone numbers) and to track treatments that I give to individuals (my clinical notes). I will not share that information with any third parties without the individual concerned giving specific permision to do so. My privacy policy can be read here.
What should I do if I need to cancel my appointment?
If you need to reschedule your appointment you can email or phone to re arrange. Cancellations without 24 hour notice may result in a charge as that time has been set aside specifically for you.
What if I am late arriving to my appointment?
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment time, your appointment has been specifically arranged for you. If you arrive late your session may be shortened to accommodate others whose appointments follow yours. We will do our best to provide you with the services you have booked but we cannot guarantee the full time if you arrive late. Full payment for your scheduled services will be expected.
I woke up with a cold today, should I come in?
A massage will likely just make you feel worse. If you are sick you may get the therapist sick and pass it onto other clients that day. If you are feeling unwell please reschedule your appointment as soon as possible.
What should I do after a massage?
It's great to give yourself some additional time after your massage to continue relaxing and allow your body to fully absorb the benefits of a massage. Ensure you stay hydrated and avoid alcohol for 24 hours. Try not to do any strenuous exercise for 24 hours after your massage.
